HANOVER, N.H.— The Dartmouth women's tennis team was strong start-to-finish on Saturday, winning its season opener by a score of 7-0 over Army West Point inside Boss Tennis Center. The Big Green have won three straight season openers dating back to the 2022 season, which also began with a victory over the Black Knights.
First-years
Peyton Capuano,
Michela Moore and
Caroline Lemcke all appeared in both doubles and singles and were each victorious. Capuano earned a straight-sets win at the No. 1 singles position and partnered with Moore at No. 2 doubles to earn a 6-1 win. Moore and
Caroline Lemcke notched singles wins on Courts 2 and 4, respectively.
The doubles point sided with Dartmouth and the Big Green would carry that momentum into singles, where they won all but one match in straight sets. Aside from the three rookie standouts, victories came from co-captain
Lexi Dewire,
Brooke Hess and
Valentina Cruz, who completed a comeback after dropping the first set.
Dartmouth is set to take on Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 27 at.1 p.m. in Boss Tennis Center.
