HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating defending Patriot League champion Boston University by a score of 5-2 inside Boss Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon, avenging last season's 6-1 loss to the Terriers.
The Big Green swept the doubles point with narrow victories on all three courts and did more than enough in singles to stay unbeaten through two matches for a second consecutive season.
Elizabeth Fahrmeier and
Caroline Lemcke defeated Boston University's Nina Gulbransen and Victoria Carlsen at the No. 3 position to seal doubles in favor of the Big Green, and
Lexi Dewire and
Brooke Hess made it a sweep with their win on the top court.
Peyton Capuano and
Michela Moore were victorious on Court 2 in the only match that didn't require a tiebreak. Through two outings on the season, the Big Green are yet to lose a doubles match.
The top of the Dartmouth lineup answered the call in singles to help seal the 5-2 win as the Big Green were on the winning side of each of the top three positions. First-years Capuano (No. 1) and Moore (No. 2), along with co-captain
Lexi Dewire (No. 3) were winners in the top half of the lineup, and
Brooke Hess added a victory at the No. 6 position.
An ACC opponent awaits the Big Green as Boston College visits Boss Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
