PHILADELPHIA, Pa.– Maddie LaFata tallied a career high 13 kills as the Dartmouth College women's volleyball team swept Penn 3-0 on Friday night from The Palestra in Philadelphia.
Ellie Mattox also notched a career high in assists with 19.
This is the Big Green's second straight sweep over an Ivy League opponent.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- Penn jumped out to a 9-5 lead, but Dartmouth later had two four point runs to take a 15-11 lead.
- Four different members of the Big Green had kills in the final nine points of the set, and Dartmouth took the set, 25-19.
SET TWO:
- The Big Green came out hot and stacked up a commanding 11-3 lead early.
- An 8-1 run by Dartmouth including two kills and an ace from Kauany Gutz gave the Big Green the set, 25-16.
SET THREE:
- Dartmouth began the set by going ahead 9-5. Penn then came back and tied it 9-9.
- After that, the set saw seven ties, until the Big Green took a 20-18 lead over the Quakers. Penn was able to score four versus Dartmouth's two to tie the set again at 22-22.
- The last three of four points went in favor of Dartmouth, all kills by LaFata, and Dartmouth won the set, 25-23.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- LaFata led the way with 13 kills.
- Emma Engstrom had 18 digs while Mattox had 19 assists.
- Dartmouth had eight aces as a team throughout the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- LaFata's career high in kills comes exactly eleven months after she set her previous career high on Nov. 11, 2023, when she had 12 kills also at Penn.
- LaFata scored Dartmouth's final four points of the third set, all off kills.
