HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth volleyball team lost to Brown on Friday evening, 3-1 from Leede Arena.

Maddie LaFata led the way with 16 kills for the Big Green and
Kauany Gutz notched 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- Two powerful kills from Ava Roberts and one from Gutz opened the match for the Big Green.
- A late 5-2 run allowed the Bears to close the gap to two, 23-21, but it was not enough. A kill from LaFata ended the set, 25-23 Dartmouth.
SET TWO:
- Brown opened the second set with three points of their own and sustained a lead until a kill by LaFata tied the set at 8-8. Two errors by Brown gave Dartmouth the lead, 10-8.
- The Big Green extended the lead to 16-11 but nine straight from Brown put them ahead, 20-16. Â
- Brown closed out the set, 25-19 off a kill by Hannah Flannery.
SET THREE:
- The Bears came out hot and jumped ahead 7-1. Four kills and an error from Brown brought the Big Green within two, 10-8 Brown.
- The teams exchanged runs and with three straight from Dartmouth, the Brown lead was brought to one, 21-20.
- Brown persisted and took the set, 25-21.
SET FOUR:
- The set was evenly matched throughout, with the Bears holding a steady lead.
- Brown extended the lead to four, but three points from the Big Green closed the gap to 23-22.
- Brown was able to hold on and win the set, 25-23.
