LOWELL, Mass.—The Dartmouth field hockey team started a four game road trip on Sunday. The Big Green took on UMass-Lowell in a non-conference matchup. The Riverhawks came away with a 5-1 win.
Lowell peppered the Big Green with shots in the first quarter as they tallied 12 shot attempts with four being shots on goal. The Riverhawks scored at the 10:29 and 14:32 marks of the opening quarter to take a 2-0 lead after a quarter of play.
Dartmouth held the Riverhawks off the board in the second quarter as Dartmouth goalkeeper Ava Carlson made two saves.
In the third quarter, Lowell added to its lead with a goal with just over five minutes left in third quarter. Carlson made three saves in the quarter as Dartmouth had seven shot attempts with three finding goal.
Lowell made it 5-0 with less than five minutes left in regulation.
The Big Green got on the board with just over a minute remaining in regulation. Riley Dumigan found a rebound off a penalty corner and finished for her third goal of the season.
Carlson finished the game with nine saves, this season she has played in five games and has made 27 saves.
Raina Johns, Dumigan, Olivia Galiotos, Ella Bowman, Lucia Campaño, and Emilia Callahan each had a shot on goal for the Big Green.
Dartmouth is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a match against Holy Cross. The road game starts at 5 p.m. in Worchester, Mass.
