ITHACA, N.Y. – The women's soccer program traveled to Cornell Saturday, looking for their first conference win of the season. The Big Green had few chances throughout the game, ultimately falling to the Big Red, 1-0.

With the loss, the Big Green fall to 6-4-1 overall and 0-2 in Ivy League play.

Cornell came out pressuring from the start, controlling possession in the first half and creating multiple offensive chances. The Big Red had four corners through the first 45 minutes, but the Big Green stayed strong defensively, holding Cornell off the board.

They had a few chances of their own late in the half, including a shot from
Frankie Valverde that brushed the cross bar but stayed out, bringing the Big Green and Big Red into halftime scoreless.

The Big Green regrouped at half and created more chances through the first part of the second half. In the 53
rd minute though, the Big Red finally capitalized, going up 1-0.

With plenty of time left in the game, Dartmouth continued to try and string together passes and offensive chances, but the Big Red continued to control possession, limiting the Big Green's looks on net to come. Dartmouth's lone goal scorer in the Ivy League opener,
Daisy Granholm had her first real chance late in the game from distance, but Cornell came away with the 1-0 victory.

Emily Hardy made her second appearance and first start of the season in net, seeing 12 shots and making four saves in 90 minutes.

The Big Green will return to action Wednesday, welcoming Harvard to Burnham Field. Wednesday's game will be Dartmouth's Pride Game as well as offer free Dartmouth trucker hats to the first 100 students in attendance.
