HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth women's tennis team closed out the fall season this weekend at the Big Green Invitational. The Big Green hosted Yale, Rutgers, Wisconsin, and UMass.
Dartmouth opened the weekend by facing Rutgers in both doubles and singles. The weekend started with doubles. The Scarlet Knights took two of the three doubles matches. Caroline Lemcke and Lauren Han won the third doubles match with a 6-2 win.
The Big Green won four of six singles matches against Rutgers. Sam Grosjean played in first singles. She dropped the opening set 7-5 before winning the second set 7-6. In the third set, she took the match win with a 10-4 win.
Han won her singles match as she was in the third position. She won 6-2, 6-1 to complete a 2-0 day.
Lexi Dewire was in the fourth singles match as she also won in straight sets. She won the first set 6-4 begore closing out the match with a 6-2 second set win.
Valentina Cruz recorded the final win of the day for the Big Green as she won in fifth singles. She fell 6-3 in the first set but responded with a 6-2 win in the second set. In the third set she won 10-7 to complete the comeback.
On Saturday, the Big Green played against a combined team of UMass and Wisconsin.
Cruz and Lemcke won the lone doubles match for the Big Green. The duo won 6-1 against a duo from UMass.
Grosjean was the lone member of the Big Green to win a singles match on Saturday. She defeated a player from UMass 6-1, 6-4.
On Sunday, the Big Green faced Ivy League rival Yale in singles play after playing the Bulldogs in doubles on Saturday. In doubles Grosjean and Cruz teamed up a for a 6-0 win in third doubles.
In singles Dewire was the lone member of the Big Green to win as she won her third singles match 6-4, 7-5.
With the conclusion of the weekend, the Big Green close out the fall schedule. Dartmouth will be back on the court in January. The spring schedule will be announced in the near future
