The Big Green improve to 4-0 all-time against UMass Lowell

HANOVER, N.H. — Leading by two heading to the fourth quarter, the Dartmouth women's basketball team left no doubt, outscoring the visiting UMass Lowell River Hawks 17-3 in the fourth to pull away for a 57-41 win on Saturday afternoon inside Leede Arena.
Clare Meyer led Dartmouth with 14 points while Zeynep Ozel had 12 and Olivia Austin recorded her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
At 2-1, the Big Green now own a winning record after three games for the first time since the 2019-20 season.

The Big Green have another home game on Monday when they welcome interstate rival Vermont to Leede Arena for a 7 p.m. opening tipoff.
FIRST QUARTER:
The Big Green jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead, with four of the points coming from Meyer and two each from Ozel and Alexandra Eldredge.
UMass Lowell answered with 10 of the next 12 points to pull even at 10 with 4:12 on the first-quarter clock.
Following six straight Dartmouth points, the River Hawks scored the next five, including a 3-pointer from Maddie Rice with one second on the clock, pulling UMass Lowell within 16-15 heading to the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER:
A 3-point play by Rayne Durant made it an 8-0 UMass Lowell run and gave the River Hawks their first lead, 18-16.
A few minutes later, with the River Hawks leading 22-21, the Big Green staged an 11-0 run — five of the points coming from Nina Minicozzi and four from Meyer.
Two Austin free throws made the score 32-22 Dartmouth, as the Big Green took a 32-24 advantage into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER:
UMass Lowell got a little closer in the third, beginning the quarter on an 8-2 run to pull within 34-32.
The Big Green lead got back to six at 40-34 after a Meyer layup, but Dartmouth wouldn't score in the final 3:35 of the quarter, as the River Hawks pulled within 40-38 heading to the fourth.
FOURTH QUARTER:
The Big Green erased much doubt with the first eight points of the fourth quarter.
Dartmouth held UMass Lowell scoreless for the first 5:59 of the stanza.
The Big Green scored nine of the final 11 points of the game for the 57-41 win.
Ozel scored six points in the stanza, knocking down both 3-pointers she took.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dartmouth shot 37.7% from the floor (23-for-61), but that included nearly 50% on 2-pointers (20-for-41).
UMass Lowell finished at 32.7% (17-for-52) from the floor.
The Big Green held a 45-36 edge in rebounds and 15-8 advantage in offensive boards.
Olivia Austin's double-double marked the first by a Big Green player this season.
Dartmouth improves to 4-0 all-time against UMass Lowell, including wins in each of the last two years.
At least one Big Green first-year has scored double-figure points in all three games this season.
