HANOVER, N.H. – Ryan Cornish notched his first career double double as the Dartmouth College men's basketball team took down Sacred Heart 81-76 on Saturday afternoon from Leede Arena. After taking the lead with 7:06 remaining in the first half, the Big Green did not trail the rest of the game.

Cornish scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds for his double double. Cade Haskins led the way with 20 points and Jackson Munro was right behind him with 19.

The Big Green's record improves to 2-0 (0-0 Ivy League) and Sacred Heart falls to 0-3 (0-0 MAAC).

FIRST HALF: 

Sacred Heart started the game on a run to take an 11-5 lead five minutes in.
Five points from Munro midway through the half brought the score to 19-16, Pioneers.
A 10-0 run with two threes from Haskins and a jumper from Cornish gave the Big Green the lead, 29-25 with 5:39 left. Dartmouth forced three Pioneer turnovers in the run.
A buzzer beater from Connor Amundsen sent the Big Green into halftime with a 42-32 lead.

SECOND HALF:

The teams exchanged points through the first two minutes of the half. Shots from beyond the arc for Munro and Haskins and a layup from Brandon Mitchell-Day expended the Big Green lead back to 10, 50-40.
Back-to-back jumpers form Munro gave Dartmouth their biggest lead of the game so far, 56-43.
With 11:38 left, the Pioneers scored the next nine of 10 to come within five, 57-52. Sacred Heart continued to score and brought the score within two, 78-76, on a 13-2 run.
Three buckets from the charity stripe courtesy of Romeo Myrthil and Cornish sealed the deal for the Big Green in the final 11 seconds, 81-76.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Munro was 72.7% (8-11) from the field. He also sank his two free throws.
Haskins went 45.5% (5-11) from beyond the arc.
Dartmouth out rebounded the Pioneers 45-32.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

The Big Green held the Pioneers from scoring for 5:08 during their first quarter 12-0 run.
Dartmouth scored 17 points off free throws in the first half and 22 in the second.
This is the first time the Big Green have opened the season 2-0 since the 2019-20 campaign.
