HANOVER, N.H. – Piper Stevens and
Kauany Gutz both recorded double doubles as the Dartmouth College volleyball team fell 3-2 in a five set thriller to Brown in Providence on Saturday night.
Stevens recorded 16 kills and 12 digs while Gutz tallied 14 kills and 12 digs.
SET BREAKDOWN:
25-18, Dartmouth; 25-23, Brown; 25-16, Brown; 25-20, Dartmouth, 15-9 Brown
The Big Green fall to 10-12 (3-9 Ivy League) and Brown improves to 9-13 (6-6 Ivy League).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- The Big Green jumped ahead early with four kills from Ava Roberts and one from Molly Power. The 6-1 run forced a timeout for Brown.
- Later on in the set, Dartmouth went on a 9-4 run with three kills from Stevens and one from Karen Murphy.
- Stevens ended the set on a kill, 25-18 Dartmouth.
SET TWO:
- The Bears started on an 8-3 run and kept scoring to extend to a 14-8 lead.
- Dartmouth went on a commanding 11-4 run to take the lead away from Brown, 19-18 Big Green.
- The set then saw three ties, but two points for Brown gave them the set, 25-23.
SET THREE:
- The Big Green opened the set with four unanswered, but Brown took control of the set quickly.
- Four and five point runs from the Bears gave them a 12-7 lead. Brown ended the set on four straight kills, 25-16.
SET FOUR:
- The Big Green again opened the set 6-1 and forced a Brown timeout.
- Five unanswered points for Dartmouth put them ahead 15-9 and the Bears utilized another timeout.
- The Bears closed the gap to 19-16 but Maddie LaFata and Stevens both had two kills to take the set 25-20.
SET FIVE:
- The teams exchanged scores for the first half of the final set.
- Brown scored six unanswered to take an 11-7 lead.
- The Bears scored four of the last five points to win the set 15-9.
