The Big Green wrap up a busy week when they host Virginia on Saturday

HANOVER, N.H. — The No. 11 Dartmouth women's squash team improved to 2-1 on the young season with a convincing 7-2 win over No. 15 Amherst on Friday at the Berry Squash Courts. The match saw three 3-2 margins, with the Big Green victorious in two of them. Four of Dartmouth's wins came via the 3-0 variety.

The Big Green captured each of the top three positions. Junior Maria Clara Ramirez won 3-0 at No. 1 via scores of 12-10, 11-3 and 11-9, respectively. Sophomore Ellie Clifford went behind 2-0, but fought back with wins of 13-11, 11-4 and 14-2 in a matchup that took 52 minutes to play. Meanwhile, senior Chelsea Cho dropped the first game at No. 3, but came back with wins of 11-2 and 11-7 and 11-6 to wrap up the 3-1 victory.

Dartmouth's two losses came at Nos. 4 and 5, but both first-year Maya Mansoor and sophomore Zayna Usman wouldn't go down without a fight. Mansoor's match took over an hour to complete and featured Amherst's Kristen Daniel pulling out a marathon 19-17 win in the fifth game.

Positions six through nine featured three 3-0 victories — by senior Aubrey Lennon, first-year Kriti Muthu and sophomore Nathalie Taylor — and a 3-2 win by first-year Maya Shroff at No. 7.

The Big Green wrap up a busy home weekend on Saturday when they host the University of Virginia at 2 p.m.
