HANOVER, N.H. — Despite Clare Meyer's career-best 24-point double-double, the Dartmouth women's basketball team suffered a 68-50 loss to Harvard on Saturday afternoon inside Leede Arena during Alumni Weekend. In addition to being the game's leading scorer, Meyer also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Big Green dropped to 6-14 on the season and 0-8 in the Ivy League. The Crimson improved to 13-8 and 6-2 in the Ancient Eight.
"The amount of energy and cheering we had behind us was unbelievable," said Linda Cimino, Dartmouth's Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach. "The alumnae are so supportive and they brought amazing energy. The tradition here is great."
Without two starters, the Big Green trailed by 13 at halftime and hung around for much of the second half, eventually trailing by 12 following the first possession of the fourth quarter. Harmoni Turner's 3-pointer was the answer the Crimson needed to fend off a Dartmouth run, and Harvard would maintain its double-digit lead.
Lola Mullaney led the Crimson with 16 points and had support from Turner and Katie Krupa, who scored 14 apiece. Mona Zaric and Elle Stauffer also netted double figures for the balanced Crimson. With Meyer representing nearly half of Dartmouth's offense, the Big Green also received seven points from Nina Minicozzi, along with six from both Mia Curtis and Mekkena Boyd.
Meyer has now scored in double figures in three straight games (previously 13 at Cornell and 10 at Columbia), and her 24-point effort is the best offensive performance for the Big Green since Victoria Page dropped 25 in a road win over Monmouth on Dec. 10, 2022. The double-double was the first of Meyer's career, and the Big Green's first 20-plus-point double-double since March 8, 2019 when Isalys Quinones scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Columbia.
The home stretch continues next weekend for the Big Green, who host Columbia on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. to kickoff a stretch of back-to-back Ivy League games. Cornell comes to Hanover the following day for a 4 p.m. tip-off. Both games, along with all other Ivy League contests, will be streamed on ESPN+ and tickets are available through the Dartmouth Athletics Ticket Office.
