Meyer and Fusco are this week’s stellar athletes
HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's basketball and men's hockey programs had big weekends this past weekend in Hanover. Clare Meyer led the Big Green to its first Ivy League win in nearly two years, while John Fusco played a key role on the ice for Dartmouth in a five-point weekend.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athlete – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Clare Meyer, So., Philadelphia, Pa., Women's Basketball
Leading the Big Green with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Clare Meyer recorded her second double-double in three games to help Dartmouth earn a 48-44 win over Cornell – its first Ivy League win since Feb. 18, 2022. Just a week prior, Meyer scored a career-high 24 points against Harvard. The sophomore consistently got to the free throw line in the win over the Big Red and was 8-of-10.
John Fusco, Jr., Westwood, Mass., Men's Hockey
The junior defender played a key role in the Big Green's five-point weekend this past weekend at Thompson Arena. In Saturday's game against St. Lawrence, Fusco scored a power play goal towards the end of the second period, his fourth tally of the year. He also had the primary assist on Eric Charpentier's goal in the final five minutes of play that tied the game to send it to overtime. On Monday, Fusco was named the ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week, the fourth Big Green player to earn the award this season.
