PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — Standing fifth to start the day, the Dartmouth women's golf team jumped to third place with a 15-over-303 effort in Saturday's second round of the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic. Heading into Sunday's final 18 holes, the Big Green are shooting 33-over-609, 13 strokes behind leader Abilene Christian.

"We played well today," said
Alex Kirk, Carolyn A. Pelzel '54a Head Coach of Women's Golf. "The wind makes the course very challenging, and the temperature looks warm, yet is very cool for Florida."

The only other team Dartmouth currently trails besies Abilene Christian is Harvard, who stands 22-over-598. Among the teams the Big Green leapfrogged Saturday was Ivy League rival Yale, shooting seven strokes better than the Bulldogs on Saturday (303 compared to 310).

"I am happy to have moved up the leader board," said Kirk. "Sophie, Katherine and Penni led the way."

Senior
Katherine Sung posted Dartmouth's second-best score of Saturday at 3-over-75. She remains the Big Green's top performer through two rounds at 5-over-149, which is tied for fourth overall.

Sophomore
Sophie Thai posted Dartmouth's top score of Saturday, 1-over-73. Standing 8-over-152 through 36 holes, she is tied for 14th overall.

Senior
Penelope Tir enjoyed a strong Saturday posting a score of 4-over-76, as her 9-over-153 is tied for 21st overall. Meanwhile, first-year
Caroline Chung shot 7-over-79 on Saturday, and is tied for 30th overall at 11-over-155. Junior
Claire Xu shot 9-over-81, and stands 20-over-164 through 36 holes.

The Big Green return to the course on Sunday for the final 18 holes of the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic. The shotgun start is slated to begin at 8 a.m.

"We still have some work to do.," said Kirk. "Waiting for can of Birdies to open. Â We are due. Â Looking forward to the final round tomorrow."
