HANOVER, N.H. — After sweeping Saturday's doubleheader, the Dartmouth softball team looked poised for a sweep when it led 3-0 as late as the fourth inning, but succumbed to four unanswered Yale runs in a 4-3 loss on Sunday afternoon.
Â
Sophie Woodridge's fourth-inning home run off of
Jensin Hall, who no-hit the Bulldogs just a day prior, evened the game at 3-3, and Woodridge would later drive in the go-ahead run during the sixth.
Â
The Big Green, who were led offensively by
Cwen Wilson (2-for-3), scored each of their three runs in the second inning. Wilson drove in a pair with her RBI double, and would score soon after on a throwing error by Yale catcher Sam Goodcase.
Â
Woodridge, the only Bulldog hitter with multiple base-knocks on the day, led a Bulldog lineup that compiled five hits against Hall, who went the distance in the circle and finished with seven strikeouts. Emma Taylor earned the win for Yale, also pitching a complete game, and all three Big Green runs were unearned. Hall retired her first 11 batters she faced before Libby Peoples tallied the first Yale hit in the fourth.
Â
Now with a 3-2 record in the Ivy League (6-10 overall), the Big Green step away from conference action on Tuesday when they host Boston University, who's currently receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, on Tuesday, April 2 at 3 p.m.
