HANOVER, N.H. — Despite victories at both the No. 1 doubles position and the No. 1 singles position, the Dartmouth women's tennis team wasn't able to overcome losing a close doubles point in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of No. 43 Columbia on Saturday afternoon inside Boss Tennis Center.
Elizabeth Fahrmeier and
Lexi Dewire picked up a 6-4 win at the top of the doubles lineup, leading the point to hinge on the outcome on Court 3, but
Caroline Lemcke and
Brooke Hess couldn't hold off the Lions in another close 6-4 decision.
Peyton Capuano accounted for the Big Green's lone singles victory, claiming the first set on Court 1 before winning via opponent retirement. Wins from Fatima Keita (No. 2), Gayathri Krishan (No. 4) and Winta Tewolde (No. 5) were enough for the Lions to clinch.
Dartmouth's back-to-back home weekend wraps up on Sunday as Cornell visits at 1 p.m.
