HANOVER, N.H. – The Big Green sailing team continued their spring season and championship racing last weekend, competing at three regattas including the New England Women's Team Race Championship.
At the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship, skippers

Faye Benjamin, and
Madeline Koelbel combined for an overall 10-7 record and a fourth-place finish.
In Round 1 of the regatta, the Big Green posted an overall 5-4 record, collecting first place finishing positions in four of their five wins. In the first round, Dartmouth also defeated Boston College, the eventual second place overall finishers, by taking the second, third, and fourth finishing positions.
Following Round 1, the Big Green competed in the Top 6, losing only one race to Harvard. One of their wins came against the regatta winners, Yale, as the Big Green took the first, second, and fifth finishing positions against the Bulldogs. In the Final 4 round, the Big Green won one race against Yale, taking the third, fourth, and sixth finishing positions. Dartmouth had the same finishing positions against Harvard and a first finishing position against Boston College but were unable to win more than one race.
Dartmouth also competed at the Thompson Trophy hosted by the Coast Guard Academy. This year, the regatta was split in two with the other half of the competitors racing at Connecticut College.
At the Coast Guard Academy, the Big Green posted a 12-7 record, good for a third-place finish. In the first round, the Big Green won six races, securing first place finishes and second place finishes in all six of their wins. In the second round, Dartmouth won five races, only losing to Penn and Yale.
The Big Green earned redemption in the Top 6 round, defeating Penn for their only win of the round. The only team the Big Green did not beat over the course of the regatta was Yale, the eventual winners. Dartmouth did collect one first place finishing position against the Bulldogs in the second round.
The rest of the Big Green competed at the Central 4 regatta hosted by UNH. Dartmouth put together two teams, combining for a first place and third place overall finish. The first Big Green team remained in the lead throughout each race, only falling out of the top spot to their fellow Big Green team.
The first Big Green team finished first overall, posting 30 total points, eight from the A round and 22 from the B round. They also had a number of high-place finishes,
The second Big Green team posted 31 total points, only one behind the first team and the second-place finisher, Brown. The second team posted 15 points in the A round and 16 points in the B round.
Dartmouth will race in three regattas next weekend, two of three which are championships. They will sail in the Open New England Fleet Race Championship hosted by Brown, the New England Women's Fleet Race Championship hosted by Bowdoin, and the Mendum's Pond Fleet Race hosted by UNH.
