HANOVER, N.H. — In a match that lasted nearly four hours, the Dartmouth women's tennis team turned in a valiant effort that fell short against a tough Harvard team, eventually dropping a 4-3 decision on Saturday at Thompson Outdoor Courts.
Dartmouth won the doubles point and garnered a couple singles wins from seniors
Katie Weber and
Lexi Dewire before attentions turned to Court 1, where Charlotte Owensby delivered the clincher for Harvard in a three-set thriller.
Michela Moore and
Peyton Capuano sealed the doubles point in tiebreak fashion on Court 2 after Dewire and Fahrmeier won a close one at the No. 1 spot.
Weber won in straight sets at No. 6 singles to help the Big Green fend off the Crimson, who picked up two-set victories on Courts 2, 4 and 5. Only Capuano and Dewire remained for Dartmouth, and both were in the midst of marathon three-set matches. Dewire came through to even the score at 3-3, but Harvard's Owensby defeated Capuano in a tiebreak shortly after.
Saturday's match marked the end of the Big Green's 2024 season.
