Three hits were not enough for the Big Green in a 4-0 lost to the host on the opening day of the Ivy League Tournament

PRINCETON, N.J. — A pair of two-run innings led No. 1 seed Princeton past the fourth-seeded Dartmouth softball team by a final tally of 4-0 on Wednesday, the opening day of the 2024 Ivy League Tournament, as the Big Green scraped together just three hits against Meghan Harrington's dominant performance in the circle.
Â
Dartmouth strung together back-to-back singles in the first inning – one from Kelly Beaupre and another from Olivia Schramm – but Leila Hennessy's fourth-inning single was the only imperfection for the remainder of the game. Princeton plated two in the second, both via bases-loaded walks, and pushed across two more in the fifth when Karis Ford homered.
Jensin Hall, who was named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday morning, went the distance for the Big Green and allowed six Tiger hits and five walks. Princeton threatened early, putting runners on first and second with no outs during the first inning, but Hall recorded back-to-back strikeouts on her way to escaping the early jam.
Â
In the second, it was a highlight-reel grab by Alaana Panu in left field that helped the Big Green limit the damage to only two Princeton runs in a critical bases-loaded situation. Panu would come up with another web gem, this time in the form of a diving catch, in the fourth inning.
