VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Rising junior
Olivia Galiotos and recently-graduated
Lila Browne have been selected to participate in the Senior Nexus Championship (NXC), presented by Osaka Hockey, which will be held at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center from July 14-16. This marks the second straight year that Galiotos will participate in the event.
The Senior NXC is held annually and features 144 elite collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. During the spring and early summer, athletes trialed and trained at one of the seven USA Field Hockey High Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to be selected to the Senior NXC. All athletes who were previously named to the U.S. U-18, U-21, and Development Women's National Teams were also included within the selection.
Named a team captain for the 2024 season, Galiotos is coming off her second honorable mention All-Ivy honor in as many years. A center back, she helped anchor some stellar defensive performances, which included a shutout vs. Brown in Dartmouth's first Ivy League win since 2018, and seven games allowing two goals or fewer. Her six defensive saves were good for third nationally. Offensively, she finished the season with a goal and four assists.
Browne, who will be playing a fifth year at UConn in the fall, also garnered honorable mention All-Ivy, along with Academic All-Ivy recognition. Her career-high 14 points were good for second on the Big Green behind five goals and four assists. She scored two goals in the season opener against Stonehill, then again vs. New Hampshire.
The Senior Nexus Championship is a step along the Olympic Development program pathway. The event begins with a team training session
