CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Five members of the Dartmouth women's golf team have been named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, as announced earlier this week. Seniors
Katherine Sung and
Penelope Tir were recognized for the third time while sophomores Kimberly Shen and
Sophie Thai, along with first-year
Caroline Chung, were also honored.
The criteria to be recognized include:
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Sung and Thai were both first team All-Ivy League honorees in 2024 after tying for second at the Ivy League Championship. At the NCAA Las Vegas Regional, Thai was Dartmouth's top finisher at 9-over-225, good for a tie for 32nd overall. Sung tied for 43rd at 13-over-229. Prior to the Ivy League Championship, Sung had five other top five finishes, with Thai finishing in the top 10 three other times. Sung graduates with the lowest career stroke average in Dartmouth women's golf history (74.72), beating the previous record by more than one stroke. Both Sung and Thai were also named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees.
Tir was a second team All-Ivy member after her 10th-place finish at the Ivy Championship. She enjoyed a stellar season in finishing top 10 four other times as well.
Shen came on as the season progressed, consistently cracking the Big Green lineup late in the season, including at both the Ivy League Championship and NCAA Regional. Her highest finish during the season was a tie for 25th at the Rutgers Invitational. Meanwhile, Chung enjoyed a strong rookie season, finishing eighth at the Yale Invitational and tied for 12th at the Ivy League Championship.
