The Richards Group – Athletes of the Week – Kauany Gutz and Zihao Yuan

HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth volleyball player Kauany Gutz and Dartmouth men's tennis player Zihao Yuan have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week following successful weekends on their respective courts.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week.

Kauany Gutz, Jr., Balneário Camboriú, Brazil, Volleyball

Gutz played in 12 sets for the Big Green this past weekend at the UConn Invite. She had 49 kills, 27 digs, five blocks, two aces for a total of 53 points. In the team's win over UAlbany, she recorded a double double (19 kills, 15 digs). This was her team leading third double double. Her efficiency throughout the weekend was .221 while she averaged 4.08 kills per set and 2.25 digs per set. Gutz helped Dartmouth to go 2-1 on the weekend, defeating UAlbany and Delaware State while falling to an undefeated UConn.

Zihao Yuan, Sr., Guangzhou, China, Men's Tennis

Yuan opened his senior season on a high note as he went 6-0 on the weekend including three singles wins and three doubles wins. He opened his weekend with a straight set win on Friday. On Saturday, he won his first doubles match of the weekend 7-6 before winning the second doubles match 6-2. He closed out the second day of the weekend with a singles win in straight sets. On Sunday he started his day with a 6-4 doubles win before winning his final singles match in comeback fashion.
