HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth volleyball team hosted Providence College on Friday after opening the season with six straight road matches. Despite dropped the opening set, the Big Green took sets two, three, and four for the victory.
SET BREAKDOWN:
25-17, Providence; 25-13 Dartmouth; 25-22 Dartmouth; 25-18 Dartmouth
The Big Green improve to 5-2 (0-0 Ivy League) and Providence falls to 5-4 (0-0 Big East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- The set saw just one tied scored and it was just two points in at 1-1. Providence took the 2-1 lead and led the rest of the set.
- Kauany Gutz finished the set with a team high four kills while Karen Murphy led the Big Green with five assists.
- The duo of Emma Symon and Gutz teamed up for the lone Big Green block of the set. Libero Emma Engstrom notched the lone ace of the set.
SET TWO:
- The Big Green opened the second set on a 5-0 run to force a Providence timeout. Following the timeout the Friars got a pair of points but Dartmouth pulled away and won the set 25-13.
- As a team, the Big Green hit .353 in the set while Gutz hit a team best .600 with seven kills. In total five players had at least one kill in the set.
- Tasman Mullins led the way with seven assists while Murphy had six assists. Both Mullens and Murphy tallied an ace in the set.
SET THREE:
- The third set saw the most back and forth play of the match as there were 11 ties along with six lead changes. The final lead change came with the score being tied at 22. Following a Providence timeout, the Big Green tallied three straight points to take the set 25-22.
- Dartmouth held the Friars to a .057 hitting percentage in the set while tallying three blocks. Both Ava Roberts and Molly Power had two block assists while Gutz and Symon each had a block assist.
- Dartmouth spread the offense around in the set with six different players earning a kill. Gutz led the way with five while Mullins had three, Murphy and Roberts each had two while Power and Symon had one apiece.
SET FOUR:
- The fourth and eventual final set saw six tied scores and just two lead changes. The two teams traded blows for the first 12 points of the match. Following the 6-6 tie the Big Green built a 14-9 lead. Dartmouth eventually took the set 25-18 to secure the win.
- Gutz continued her strong match by leading the team with seven kills in the set as the Big Green recorded a .361 hitting percentage. Piper Stevens had five kills while Roberts ended the set with three.
- Murphy dished out 10 assists while Mullins added six of her own.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· Gutz ended the match with a match high 23 kills, it is the second time this season that the junior has finished with 20 or more kills. She also set a new season high with a .381 hitting percentage.
· Both Murphy and Mullins turned in double digit assist performances. Murphy had 25 assists while Mullins had 19. Both Murphy and Mullins have turned in 10+ assists in every match this season.
· The Big Green have now defeated Providence seven straight times dating back to 1998. They are 5-0 in Leede Arena against the Friars since 1998.
