BOSTON, Mass. – The Big Green secured their first win of the season as Dartmouth volleyball took down Lindenwood, 3-1, on Saturday morning from the Cabot Center at the Northeastern Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- The match opened slow with service errors from both teams and continued even until three kills from Kauany Gutz and blocks from Ava Roberts and Raeli Smith put Dartmouth ahead 9-4.
- The Big Green extended to a 13-6 lead, but Lindenwood came out of a timeout strong, scoring five unanswered points, closing the gap to 13-11.
- An ace from Lindenwood's Jessie Seidel brought the Lions right back into the match, 17-17.
- Deep into the set, Lindenwood jumped in front, 23-22, off a kill by Anna Kraemer.
- Dartmouth scored the next three and secured the first set, 25-23.
SET TWO:
- The teams went point for point for the first six. Lindenwood then went on a six-point run, including three aces from Seidel, to take a 9-3 lead, resulting in a Dartmouth timeout.
- Lindenwood went on a 7-2 run later in the set, 16-8 lead for the Lions.
- Dartmouth's turn for an 8-3 run brought the score to 21-16, Lindenwood.
- The Big Green inched closer to closing the gap, but Lindenwood persisted to the 25-20 victory.
SET THREE:
- Lindenwood showed their dominance throughout the beginning of the set, taking a quick 12-5 lead.
- Dartmouth and Lindenwood traded points for the next 14 scores, until Dartmouth scored three in a row off kills from Molly Power and Piper Stevens, closing the Eagles lead to 19-16.
- A clutch block from Power and Tasman Mullins forced a timeout from Lindenwood, with Dartmouth down by one, 20-19. Another point for the Big Green off a Lion error evened the score at 20-20.
- A kill and block from Power and an ace from Stevens brought the score to 23-21. Another Lion error and kill from Gutz secured the set for the Big Green in comeback fashion, 25-23.
SET FOUR:
- The fourth set started with seven ties before Dartmouth had four consecutive points to open up the score 13-10.
- The teams continued to trade points through the set until the score was 18-15.
- Maddie LaFata had back-to-back kills, electrifying the Big Green offense and leading to four straight for Dartmouth.
- Gutz ended the set with a kill and gave the Big Green the victory, 25-19.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gutz and Lafata both had 12 kills for Dartmouth.
- Karen Murphy had two aces for the Big Green, while the team had a combined four.
- Power led the way by far with eight blocks throughout the match.
- Power had four kills and two blocks for the Big Green in the third set alone.
- The Big Green trailed by as much as seven in the third set, before coming back and winning it.
