PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Women's Golf team is back on the course and looking to defend their Ivy League title, opening their season at the Golfweek Invitational in South Carolina.
Through the first day of competition, the Big Green are exactly in the middle, sitting tied for ninth place out of 18 teams. As a team, the Big Green shot +12 for 296 on the first day of competition.
Dartmouth put
Sophie Thai,
Hope Hall,
Claire Xu, and
Lauren Pham on the course. Thai, who qualified and competed in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship this summer led the way for the Big Green, shooting a 73 (+2) to be tied for 28
th overall in the tournament. She also shot for par on 12 of the 18 holes and collected two birdies.
Claire Xu and
Lauren Pham each shot a 74 (+3) on the first day of competition.
Hope Hall was right behind with a 75 (+4) through the first round of 18 holes.
Through the first day of competition, the Big Green rank second overall with a 4.81 stroke average on par 5s. Hall leads the way for the Big Green on par 5s, averaging 4.25 strokes per hole.
They also rank third in the tournament with 12 total birdies. Pham collected four during her first day on the course as a member of the Big Green.
