HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in the spring season on Sunday with a 6-1 win over Marist at Boss Tennis Center.
Doubles
Michela Moore and Peyton Capuano teamed up in first doubles and improved to 2-0 in the spring. Moore and Capuano won their doubles match 6-2.
Brooke Hess and Sam Grosjean played in the second doubles position for the first time of the spring. The duo won their match in convincing fashion 6-1.
Valentina Cruz and Elise Wong closed out a doubles sweep with a 6-1 win in third doubles.
Singles
Moore was slotted in the first singles position for the Big Green. She dropped her first set 7-5 but rebounded in the second set with a 7-6 win. In the third set, Moore dominated winning 10-2 to earn a point for the Big Green.
Capuano dropped just one game in her second singles win. She won the first set 6-0 and then won the second set 6-1 to improve to 2-0 in singles on the spring season.
Wong played in fourth singles for the Big Green and completed a clean sweep of her opponent. She won 6-0 in the first set and then won the second set 6-0.
Cruz completed a 2-0 day for the Big Green as she notched a three-set win in fifth singles. She fell 6-2 in the first set but forced a third set following a 6-2 win in the second set. In the tie breaker she won 10-8 for the match win.
Hess came away with a sweep in sixth singles. She won 6-1 in the first set before securing a sweep with a 6-1 win in the second set.
Following a successful first weekend of the spring season, the Big Green travel to Boston for a pair of matches next weekend. The Big Green take on Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 25 before taking on Boston College on Sunday, Jan. 26.
