HANOVER, N.H. — Cornell outscored the Dartmouth women's basketball team 15-6 in the second quarter, which the Big Green couldn't overcome in a 60-48 loss on Friday evening inside Leede Arena. Dartmouth pulled as close as two on multiple occasions in the third quarter, but the Big Red held a 19-11 edge in the fourth to pull away.
Victoria Page led Dartmouth in scoring for the 14th time this season, posting 16 points on the evening. Zeynep Ozel and Clare Meyer each had 10 points, with Meyer adding six rebounds and a career-high four assists.
All 48 Big Green points came from their starting lineup.
Rachel Kaus came off the bench for Cornell with a game-high 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting.
The Big Green return home in less than 24 hours to host Columbia at 5 p.m. on Alumnae Day.
FIRST QUARTER:
Page scored six of Dartmouth's first 11 points behind a pair of 3-pointers. The first opened the scoring, with the second giving the Big Green an 11-6 lead with 4:04 on the first-quarter clock.
Cornell went on to open its second lead of the quarter at 13-11 before an Alexandra Eldredge jumper knotted the score at 13 after 10 minutes of play.
SECOND QUARTER:
The Big Red began the second quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 21-13 lead before Dartmouth's first basket, a Meyer layup, with 7:10 on the clock.
Another Meyer layup got the Big Green within four, but six consecutive Cornell points made it a 10-point margin. The Big Red led 28-19 at the half.
THIRD QUARTER:
Just 11 seconds into the quarter, Page knocked down a 3-pointer, then scored four more points (seven total) before the third was 2:10 old.
Dartmouth pulled within two on multiple occasions, but Cornell always seemed to have an answer.
Ozel converted an acrobatic and-one layup with 1:50 remaining to pull the Big Green within 38-36, but Cornell increased its lead to four, 41-37, heading to the fourth quarter.
