Field Hockey Falls In Overtime To No. 18 Brown

HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth field hockey team closed out the 2025 season by hosting No. 18 Brown. The Big Green fell in overtime 3-2 to the Bears.

The opening quarter saw one goal as Brown scored 13:07 into the game. Brown had six shots in the first quarter while senior netminder Ava Carlson made four saves in the first quarter.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth quarter as both teams looked for momentum heading into halftime. 4:41 into the second quarter, Brown took a 2-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, the Big Green responded and cut the Brown lead in half. Lucia Campano was camped on the backdoor of the cage and redirected home a pass from Amelie Luessmann to cut it to a 2-1 game.

Carlson made two saves in the second quarter as the teams went to the halftime break separated by just a goal.

3:12 into the third quarter, the Big Green comeback was completed as Ruby Walsh redirected a ball from senior Zoe Schaffer to tie the game at two. Fellow senior Florentina Terra fired a long pass to Schaffer who directed towards Walsh who tipped the ball home.

The fourth quarter saw just one total shot, and it was for the Big Green. Neither team broke the 2-2 tie and the regular season finale went to overtime.

At the 2:44 mark of the overtime, the Bears converted on penalty corner to win 3-2.

Carlson made eight saves in her final game as a member of the Big Green as Dartmouth tallied five shots.

Campano led Dartmouth with two shots while Raina Johns, Walsh, and Schaffer each tallied shots in the game.

Following the game, Dartmouth honored its senior class that featured, Carlson, Boau-Lilly Shepherd, Terra, Schaffer, and Olivia Galiotos.

The Big Green finish the 2025 season with wins over Bryant, Maine, Holy Cross, and Colgate. Dartmouth will be back on the field in fall of 2026.
