ALBANY, N.Y. — The Dartmouth women's basketball team began the game on a 7-0 run and later scored eight straight in the fourth quarter to pull closer, but it wasn't enough as UAlbany downed the Big Green, 65-41 on Monday evening inside the Broadview Center.
Olivia Austin led the Dartmouth offense with a career-high 16 points.
With the loss, the Big Green fall to 1-1. UAlbany improves to 2-1.
Austin finished 6-of-9 from the floor.
Alexandra Eldredge added nine points, six rebounds and two assists in a strong all-around effort.
Zeynep Ozel tacked on eight points.
Seventeen Big Green turnovers hurt, compared to just eight for the Great Danes.

FIRST QUARTER:
- The Big Green got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first seven points. Ozel had the first five, via a driving layup and 3-pointer, with a Clare Meyer layup making the score 7-0 with 7:24 on the clock.
- UAlbany responded with a 17-2 run to take a 17-9 lead with 52 seconds left in the quarter.
- The Great Danes led 19-11 after one quarter of play.
SECOND QUARTER:
- Neither team scored until more than two minutes into the second quarter, as an Amaya Stewart jumper gave the Great Danes their first double-digit lead at 21-11.
- A Cate MacDonald jumper got the Big Green back within eight at 25-17 with 3:36 on the clock.
- UAlbany responded to open a 34-21 halftime advantage.
THIRD QUARTER:
- Dartmouth scored the first four points of the third quarter, which included Ozel's second 3-pointer of the game, to pull within 34-25 with 7:58 remaining in the quarter.
- However, the Great Danes would score 19 of the next 23 points to take a 53-29 lead after 30 minutes of play.
FOURTH QUARTER:
- After the teams traded baskets to begin the quarter, Dartmouth reeled off eight straight points, with Eldredge scoring five of them and Austin knocking down a three, to pull within 55-39 with 4:52 on the clock.
- But that's as close as the Big Green would get, as UAlbany ended the game on a 10-2 run for the 65-41 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Dartmouth finished at 35.4% from the floor (17-of-48), including 21.4% from 3-point range (3-of-14).
- UAlbany shot 49.1% (27-of-55) and 43.8% (7-of-16) from three.
- Austin's 16 points broke her previous career high of 15 scored last December at Syracuse.
- Ozel leads the team with four 3-pointers made through two games this season.
- UAlbany finished with a 32-26 edge in rebounds.
