NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Before a week off of competition, the Big Green took on the #10 Yale Bulldogs at Ingalls Rink, looking to snap a two-game losing skid.
Dartmouth got out to a good start, but Yale settled in, going on to score five goals to defeat the Big Green. With the loss, Dartmouth falls to 2-7-1 on the season and 2-5-1 in ECAC Hockey play.
The Big Green had a solid ten minutes to start the game, controlling the pace and playing connected. Despite being outshot 14-4 in the period, the game remained scoreless into the final minutes. With just over three minutes to play in the first frame, the Bulldogs found the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Yale continued to push in the middle period, outshooting the Big Green 14-6. The Big Green again fell into penalty trouble, giving Yale two power play opportunities that it was able to convert on to take a 3-0 lead.
Before the period would end, the Bulldogs added their fourth goal of the game, this one at even strength, making it a 4-0 game ahead of the third period.
Head Coach
Maura Crowell said the goal for her team in the third period was to get back to the basics. While there were some improvements, the Big Green were unable to get on the scoreboard. Yale added its fifth goal of the game in the final minutes, going on to defeat the Big Green, 5-0.
Michaela Hesová got the start in between the pipes for the Big Green. She made 32 total saves including double digit saves in both the first (13) and second (11) periods.
Dartmouth will now have a weekend off of game competition for final exams before returning to action on Friday, November 28 with a Thanksgiving trip to face Minnesota State Mankato.
"I think we need the rest," Crowell said about the upcoming week. "Get them focused on what they need to do next week academically, show video, work on the things that we need to do and come back into winterim with a lot of energy. I think that's when we're good, when we have that energy and we can play fast, and we can play tough."
Puck drop on Friday, November 28 against the Mavericks is set for 2 p.m. central time, 3 p.m. eastern. You can stream the game on ESPN+ or follow the live stats on DartmouthSports.com.
