Big Green Head Into Holiday Break With An 11-1-0 Record
DURHAM, N.H.—No. 8/7 Dartmouth men's hockey suffered its first loss of 2025-26 on Sunday 3-2 in overtime to New Hampshire.
The Wildcats opened the scoring at the 6:18 mark of the first period to take a 1-0 lead.
UNH took the lead to the locker room, it was the first time this season that Dartmouth trailed after the opening 20 minutes.
At the 8:26 mark of the second period, the Big Green tied the game. Nikita Nikora drove down the left side of the ice and found Tim Busconi across the ice. Busconi took a shot that was saved but the puck stayed uncovered in the crease. Nathan Morin found the loose puck and banged home his sixth goal of the year. It was Busconi's third assist while it was Nikora's ninth of the season.
The Wildcats took the lead back just 2:30 later and took the lead to the locker room after 40 minutes.
The third period saw the Big Green look to tie the game at two. At the 18:00 mark, Dartmouth tied the game on their second scramble goal of the game. Andrew Clarke had the puck at the point and fired it towards the net. The shot was blocked in the slot but Brock Cummings found the loose puck and fired it towards the net. Ryan Schelling found the rebound and scored his fourth goal of the season. Cummings picked up his second assist of the year while Clarke picked up his seventh assist of the year.
Neither team scored in the last two minutes of the third period and the game went to overtime.
2:29 into overtime, UNH scored to win the game.
Emmett Croteau made his sixth start of the season for the Big Green. He made 31 saves including 11 in the third period. This season he has a .953 save percentage and a 1.16 goals against average.
The Big Green go into the holiday break with an 11-1-0 record while outscoring opponents 52-16 over 12 games.
Dartmouth is back on the ice on Dec. 27 and 28 for the 36th annual Ledyard Classic against Arizona State. The Big Green and Sun Devils start the two-game series on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 5 PM. For tickets to both games click here.
