Dartmouth Defeats Liberty To Open Home Weekend

HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth men's tennis hosted C-USA opponent Liberty on Friday night at Boss Tennis Center. The Big Green earned their sixth win of the season with a 5-2 win over the Flames.

Doubles

Waleed Qadir and Yujiro Onuma played first doubles on Friday, the duo earned their first doubles win as a team with a 7-6(5) win.

Alex Knox-Jones and Henry Ren notched their second win of the spring in second doubles. They defeated the Flames 6-4 as the Big Green took the doubles point.

Singles

Ren notched a 2-0 day with his seventh singles win of the season. He played in second singles on Friday. He won the first set 6-1 and the closed out the sweep with a 6-2 win in the second set.

Hikaru Takeda played in third singles and also completed a sweep for the Big Green. He won the first set 6-3 and the second set 7-5 to improve to 6-1 in the spring.

Knox-Jones joined his doubles partner with a 2-0 day. He won the first set 7-6 and then completed a perfect 6-0 second set for the win.

Miles Groom notched the final win of the day for Big Green in fifth singles. He fell 7-5 in the opening set but forced a third set with a 7-6 second set win. In the tiebreaker he notched his seventh win of the season with a 10-6 win.

The Big Green are back on action on Sunday, Feb. 23 as Boston University travels to Boss Tennis Center for a Noon first serve.
