Massachusetts native Nina Minicozzi scored 15 points behind a career-high five 3-pointers

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Harvard jumped out to an early 16-point lead, which the Dartmouth women's basketball team couldn't overcome as the Big Green fell 66-31 on Saturday inside Lavietes Pavilion. One bright spot for the Big Green was Nina Minicozzi, who scored 15 points behind a career-high five made 3-pointers.
After Minicozzi, no other Dartmouth player scored more than four points. Olivia Austin finished with a team-high eight rebounds, to go with her four points.
Harmoni Turner posted a game-high 21 points for Harvard, right at her scoring average.
Dartmouth finished with 23 turnovers, but just six came in the second half.
Dartmouth is set for a pair of games next weekend, at Columbia on Friday (7 p.m.) and Cornell on Saturday (5 p.m.)
FIRST QUARTER:
Harvard jumped out to a 16-0 lead, forcing six Big Green turnovers in the first quarter. Three came on consecutive possessions, leading to Crimson points and a Dartmouth timeouts.
The Big Green got on the board with a Cate MacDonald jumper, while Minicozzi hit her first three of the game to round out the scoring and pull her team within 18-5 after one quarter of play.
SECOND QUARTER:
Things didn't get much better in the second quarter, as Harvard's lead gradually increased, reaching 27 at 39-12.
Two Alexandra Eldredge free throws pulled the Big Green within 39-14 at the half.
THIRD QUARTER:
Harvard continued to build its lead in the third quarter, outscoring Dartmouth by 10 in the stanza.
One highlight was an Austin 3-point play
The Crimson entered the fourth with a 55-20 lead.
FOURTH QUARTER:
With Harvard leading 66-26, the Big Green scored the game's final five points behind Minicozzi's fifth 3-pointer of the game and free throws from Victoria Page and Austin.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Minicozzi shot 5-of-9 from 3-point range.
As a team, Dartmouth shot 20.5% from the floor (9-of-44), including 22.7% from behind the arc (5-of-22).
Harvard finished at 45.8% (27-of-59) and 36.8% from three (7-of-19).
The Big Green's leading scorer, Page, was held without a field goal and to just one point on the afternoon.
Dartmouth held a 39-33 edge in rebounds.
The loss drops the Big Green's road record to 5-5, marking their first road defeat of Ivy League play.
