JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Big Green split the first day of the ETSU Invitational in Johnson City on Friday afternoon. They defeated North Dakota 6-4 but fell to the host ETSU 12-2.
In the victory over the Fighting Hawks,
Jensin Hall recorded her second win on the season.
Isabel Kirby also pitched two innings only allowing one hit.
GAME 1: Dartmouth 6, North Dakota 4
The first batter of the game, Alanna Panu, was hit by a pitch to get on first. She stole second and eventually crossed home plate off a
Justice Malone sacrifice fly, 1-0 Big Green. No runs were scored by the Fighting Hawks in the bottom of the inning with one runner being caught stealing off a throw down from
Marilyn Beauvais.
The second inning saw two runs from North Dakota off a single and a home run to center field, 2-1 UND. Malone cracked a single in the top of the fourth that was followed by a
Scarlet Niles single up the middle, but they were left stranded.
Dartmouth got the bats going in the top of the fifth with hits a single from Beauvais. She was brought home by a Panu double down the left field line. Panu stole third for her second steal on the day.
Faby Serna had a battle at the plate that resulted in a pop out to shortstop, but Panu came home for a Serna RBI. Malone rocked a double to right field but was unable to cross home plate, 3-2 Big Green. North Dakota responded with one run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 3-3.
Cwen Wilson reached first on a walk to start the sixth inning.
Leila Hennessy singled and recorded an RBI.
Jenna Brown walked to reach first and a Panu double sent her home, 6-3 Big Green. Again, the Fighting Hawks responded with one run, Big Green held a 6-4 lead after six.
The top of the seventh went scoreless for the Big Green but
Olivia Schramm recorded a single to the left side. The bottom of the seventh was a one-two-three for the Big Green and they took the victory 6-4.
GAME 2: ETSU 12, Dartmouth 2
ETSU opened scoring in the bottom of the second and took a 6-0 lead. The Bucs added four runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-0 lead.
Dartmouth put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth after Hennessy and Beauvais walked to get on base. Brown doubled down the right field line to drive both of them in, 12-2.
The game ended after the bottom of the fifth with ETSU taking the 12-2 victory.
