LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—The Dartmouth men's hockey team saw its season come to an end on Friday night with a 4-1 loss to No. 18 Clarkson.
The first period yielded no goals and the teams generated a combined seven shots.
Dartmouth outshot the Golden Knights 4-3 in the opening 20 minutes. Faceoffs were tied at five in the first period.
1:04 into the second period the Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead. Just over four minutes later, Clarkson made it a 2-0 game.
The Big Green outshot the Golden Knights 9-7 in the second period but went to the locker room trailing 2-0.
Clarkson added to its lead at the 4:54 mark of the third period with a power play goal.
With 4:28 left in regulation the Big Green got on the board. John Fusco and Hank Cleaves were behind the Dartmouth net and skated up the ice. Cleaves gained the line and dropped the puck to J. Fusco. J. Fusco skated to the high slot and ripped home his 11th goal of the season. Cleaves notched his 16th assist while Sean Chisholm picked up a secondary assist on the play, it was his 12th assist of the year.
With 1:50 left, Clarkson netted an empty netter to close out the game.
Dartmouth outshot Clarkson 13-5 in the third period and 26-15 overall.
Roan Clarke started in net for the Big Green and made 11 saves.
The Big Green finish the season with a 18-13-2 record which is a five-win improvement from 2023-24. The 18 wins are the most wins since the 2015-16 season when the Big Green also won 18 games.
Dartmouth won its first sole Ivy League title since the 1979-80 season.
