ITHACA, N.Y. – The Dartmouth softball team fell to Cornell 13-9 this afternoon from Nieman-Robison Field on Saturday afternoon.

Jensin Hall pitched five innings for the Big Green and recorded six strikeouts while
Justice Malone recorded three RBIs.

Alaana Panu hit a leadoff double to get things started for the Big Green. She was able to advance to third on a pass ball. A sacrifice fly from
Justice Malone brought Panu home, 1-0 Big Green. Cornell came right back with a walk and two home runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Big Green made an early pitching change and brought in
Isabel Kirby for
Rachel McCarroll. The Big Red added three more runs before the end of the inning to go ahead 6-1.

In the bottom of the second, Kirby was replaced by Hall after another run came home for Cornell.

Bats came alive in the top of the fourth for Dartmouth. Schramm hit a double and advanced to third on an error that also put
Marilyn Beauvais on base.
Cwen Wilson then stepped up to the plate and singled for an RBI. Later in the inning, two Big Green walks put more runners on the bases. After a pitching change from the Big Red,
Lauren Ben-Ezra singled to score another run. Panu grounded out but another Dartmouth runner came home.
Faby Serna singled to allow one more run to cross before the end of the inning and the Big Green brought it within one, 7-6.

Cornell added one run in the bottom of the inning and brought their lead to 8-6.

In the top of the fifth, Beauvais and Wilson singled to get on base.
Leila Hennessy grounded out but notched an RBI and the Big Green were back within one, 8-7. Cornell once again bounced back with two more runs, 10-7 Big Red.

The game continued to go back and forth with Dartmouth scoring two more runs off of an error, a single and a Malone double that resulted in two RBIs, 10-9 Cornell.

Cornell added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 13-9 and take the victory.
