ITHACA, N.Y. - The Dartmouth track and field team closed out the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship on Saturday evening. Through the weekend, the Big Green had 24 podium finishes and rewrote the top ten all-time list several times.Â
The Big Green saw a significant increase in points scored compared to last year's indoor championship. Last season, the women earned 33 points while the men had 39. This year, the women finished sixth with 52 points, while the men finished fourth with 79 points.Â
Mariella Schweitzer earned the first point of the day for the Big Green and was the first podium finish as well, placing sixth in the 60m hurdles.
""What a weekend for Big Green track & field. Myself and the coaching staff are very proud of how we competed. It seemed like every time you turned around someone was setting a new school record, personal record or seasons best. We said at the beginning of the season that our goal was to be at our best when it mattered the most. I think we achieved that goal! The Ivy League is an elite track & field conference and we stuck our nose in the mix and competed with heart. Overall, it was a great indoor season and we are very much looking forward to more of the same during the outdoor season! Go Big Green!" Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field and Cross CountryÂ
Mike Nelson said.
