Women's Tennis Falls In Saturday Match At Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y.—Dartmouth women's tennis traveled to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on Cornell to open the final weekend of the season. Dartmouth battled but fell 4-2 to the Big Red.

Doubles

Cornell opened the scoring as they took the doubles point. Sam Grosjean and Brooke Hess dropped the first match of the afternoon as they fell 6-1.

Elizabeth Fahrmeier and Elise Wong suited up in second doubles for the Big Green. The duo improved to 8-6 on the season with a 6-3 win.

Peyton Capuano and Michela Moore played in first doubles for Dartmouth. The duo battled but fell 7-5 as Cornell took the doubles point.

Singles

Moore picked up the first Dartmouth point in second singles. Moore won the first set 6-2 and completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in the second set. The sophomore is now 12-6 this spring with the win.

Caroline Lemcke earned the other point for the Big Green in sixth singles on Saturday. The sophomore notched her sixth win of the spring with a 6-4 win in the first set and a 6-4 win in the second set.

Capuano played a back and forth first set in first singles but fell 7-5. She looked to force a third set but fell 6-2 as she dropped to 9-9 on the season.

Lauren Han fell in third singles 7-6, 6-1. The first-year is 10-8 this season for the Big Green.

Fellow first-year Sam Grosjean took the first set of her fourth singles match on Saturday, 6-3. In the second set she fell 6-2, she fell 6-2 in the deciding set.

Fahrmeier rebounded after a tough opening set in her fifth singles match. The senior won the second set 6-4 to force a third set. The match was ended as Cornell took the overall match.

The Big Green close out the 2024-25 season on Sunday with a match against Columbia, first serve is slated for 1 PM in New York City.
