HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's tennis opened their 2025-26 season this past weekend, hosting the Fall Foliage Fest at Boss Tennis Center.
The Big Green played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, welcoming Brown, UMass, UConn, and Boston College to Hanover.
On Friday, Dartmouth opened the invitational against the Brown Bears. The Big Gren swept the Bears in all three doubles matches.
Lauren Han and
Alexandra Orlins won the first doubles match 6-2.
Brooke Hess and
Elise Wong also took their match, 6-2.
Josephine Lombardi and
Valentina Cruz won the final doubles match for the Big Green on Friday, 6-4.
The Big Green also won four of the six singles matches. Han won the first singles match, 6-2, 6-2. In the second singles position, Abigail Lee of Brown beat Cruz, 6-3. 6-3. Lombardi and Orlins won their matches, 6-4, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. The Bears only other singles win as against Hess, who despite a battle in the first set, lost 7-5, 6-1.
Sam Grosjean closed out singles play on Friday for the Big Green, defeating Bella Hu 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
Both Lombardi and Orlins went 2-0 in their Big Green debuts, Friday.
On Saturday, Dartmouth faced both UMass and UConn in multiple doubles and singles matches. Orlins and Lombardi continued to shine, winning their doubles match over Ella Faesler and Madara Markevica of UMass, 7-6 and posting the only doubles win for the Big Green.
Hess and Grosjean lost to UConn 2-6 while Wong and
Audrey Feng fell to UMass, 4-6.
In singles play, the Big Green won two of their six matches. Orlins moved to 4-0 on the weekend, defeating Platenikova Ela of UConn 6-3, 6-4. Cruz also earned a win, beating Martine Pavissich of UMass 7-6(6), 4-6, and 10-5 in a tiebreak.
Lombardi retired from her match due to injury and was behind 4-5 when the match was called. Han fell to UConn, 6-2, 6-4, Hess fell to Umass 6-2, 6-4, and Feng lost 6-0.
On the third day of the Fall Foliage Fest, the Big Green swept doubles competition for the second time.
Orlins earned another doubles win, this time alongside Grosjean, defeating UConn 6-3. Wong and Han earned a 7-6 (3) win over UConn before Feng and Cruz closed out doubles play with a 6-1 victory over UConn.
The Big Green won five of their seven singles matches to wrap the first competition of the 2025-26 season. Grosjean earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory, Orlins a 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 victory, Feng a 6-2, 6-0 victory, Hess a 6-3, 2-6, 10-3 win, and Han a 6-1, 2-6, 10-5 victory.
Cruz fell 6-0, 6-3 and Wong fell 6-1 in their final matches.
Dartmouth will return to action on October 9 when they head to Harvard for the ITA New England Regionals.
