Men's Tennis Sweeps Bryant For 2-0 Start To The Season

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team opened their spring season 2-0 on Sunday following a doubleheader against Bryant. The Big Green swept its first match, going 7-0, and clinched the second match 6-1.
In the first match of the double header, Henry Ren and Miles Groom had a 6-2 victory over Bryant's Baquero/Machado, while the other doubles victory came from a 6-4 match by Malhar Patel and Calvin Wang. Ren opened singles play with a 1-6, 6-3,10-2 result, followed by Kornel Halmos winning in straight set fashion. Groom won his match 6-3, 6-3, while Yujiro Onuma took his match 7-6, 6-3 (5). Denny Bao and Wang closed out the first match with wins, Bao going 5-7, 6-1, 10-3, and Wang going 6-2, 6-2.
As for day two, Wang and Patel alongside Bao and Halmos picked up wins in doubles play with 6-3 and 6-0 results, respectively. Halmos opened singles with a 7-6, 5-7, 10-6 result over Bryant's Machado. Ren secured the second singles win of the day with a 7-6, 6-3 (6) decision, while Groom added to the win column with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Leo Pade had a 6-0, 6-1 victory of his own before Patel closed the competition with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
The Big Green continue their home schedule this Sunday, Jan. 25 when hosting Fairfield at Boss Tennis Center.
