Men's Tennis Sweeps Merrimack and BU, Improves to 5-0 On Season

HANOVER, N.H. –The Dartmouth men's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season, defeating both Merrimack and Boston University 7-0 at the Boss Tennis Center on Saturday.
Henry Ren and Miles Groom opened the day with a 6-2 victory over Merrimack's Schut and Van Nooten, followed by a 6-3 Malhar Patel and Calvin Wang win. Yujiro Onuma opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 victory by Wang. Groom clinched his singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 win, while Patel had a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Denny Bao and Adrien Treacy wrapped the day with 6-0, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1 victories, respectively.
In a similar fashion, Ren and Groom opened competition against the Terriers with a 6-2 victory in doubles play. Ren took his singles match 6-3, 7-6 (4) and Groom took his 7-5. Treacy picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win, while Onuma and Bao went 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2, respectively. Wang wrapped the day with a 6-2, 7-6.
The Big Green will continue home play when hosting Indiana and Holy Cross on Saturday, Feb. 7.
