HANOVER, N.H. –The Dartmouth men's basketball team dropped a close 79-76 game to Brown on Senior Night, splitting the season series 1-1 with the Bears.
Jayden Williams led the Big Green's offense, shining with 24 points, six rebounds and an assist. Williams went 8-13 in field goals, 3-4 in free throws and 5-10 in three pointers. Kareem Thomas put up 22 points, going 2-3 in three pointers, 5-7 in field goals and 10-11 in free throws. Brandon Mitchell-Day led the team in rebounds with seven, while Connor Amundsen led the team in assists with four.
UP NEXT:The Big Green will hit the road on Saturday, Feb. 21 to face Columbia at Levien Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
First Half:
Landon Lewis opened scoring with a layup, before Dartmouth took the lead with a Williams three pointer. The teams tied at 4-4, before Dartmouth took a lead it wouldn't surrender for the rest of the half.
The Big Green had its best scoring run with seven minutes left, going on a 7-0 run that featured a Nikola Abusara dunk and Thomas three pointer. The Big Green grabbed a 12 point lead lead, its largest of the night, with just two minutes left in the half. Mitchell-Day closed out the half with a layup to bring the score to 38-30.
Second Half:
N'famara Dabo opened the second half with two consecutive dunks to bring Brown closer to tying the game. Dartmouth gave itself some insurance, securing a nine point lead before the Bears clawed closer, eventually tying the game at 49-49.
David Rochester gave Brown a lead it would hold for some time with a three pointer. Dartmouth tied the game at 58-58 and eventually took the lead before Brown regained possession of the game.
The final two minutes of the game were close, with Amundsen bringing the team within a point of tying the game. With a minute left, Thomas made two free throws for the Big Green's final points of the game, closing out the night 79-76.
