COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - On Friday, the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) announced its All-NIRA teams, recognizing seven members of the Big Green.
Cindy Taulava,
Paola Arredondo Almeida and
Katelyn Walker were all named First Team All-NIRA selections.
Annie Henrich and
Marley Larkin took home second team honors while
Jordynn LeBeau and
Hehea Pulotu were selected as All-NIRA Honorable Mentions.
Taulava was dominant defensively for the Big Green during the 15s season, but also made her mark on the offensive side of the ball, scoring two tries for the Big Green. She scored her first try of the season in the win at Army before opening the scoring against Sacred Heart the following week.
Arredondo Almeida tallied a team second best six tries for 30 total points. She scored multiple tries in two games, scoring two each against Quinnipiac to open the season and in the win over Navy.
Walker continued to impress her senior season, also recording six tries through the 15s season. She opened the scoring in the win at Navy while also leading the Big Green with 10 points in the regular season loss to Harvard.
Henrich and Larkin impressed all season, taking home second team all-NIRA honors in their sophomore and first-year seasons.
Henrich led the team in scoring, tallying 85 total points. Her five tries ranked third on the team while her 27 conversions and two penalty kicks were both the team high. There was only one game all season Henrich did not record a point, while her season high came against Bowdoin as the sophomore tallied 21 total points.
Larkin also shined in her first season with the Big Green as her ten tries was the team high. She scored the opening try in her first career game with the Big Green, going on to add three more against the Quinnipiac Bobcats. Larkin scored in all but two games this season, including scoring the only points for the Big Green in a loss to Lindenwood.
LeBeau and Pulotu took home all-NIRA honorable mention honors. LeBeau scored two tries this season but was an important part of the Big Green's defense and overall play.
Pulotu was also dominant on the line for the Big Green and was another conversion kick option for her team, successfully making one.
Dartmouth will now shift its focus to its 7s season, set to begin in March. More information on the Big Green's 7s schedule will be available on DartmouthSports.com.
