Softball Falls To Elon And No. 7 FSU In Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The Dartmouth women's softball team continued the Dugout Club Classic on Saturday at JoAnn Graf Field, falling 3-4 to Elon and 8-0 to No. 7 FSU.
GAME 1: Elon 4, Dartmouth 3
Dartmouth opened scoring in their first game of the day, with Lauren Ben-Ezra getting things started for the Big Green by reaching first due to a fielding error by Elon's second baseman. Olivia Schramm singled down the right field line to push Ben-Ezra to third, then Schramm stole second while Ben-Ezra stole home. Elon evened the score in the second inning in a similar way, with Chloe Hatzopoulos stealing home.
In the top of the third, Justice Malone got a rally going when she doubled to left center, followed by a Faby Serna single. Malone advanced to third and Serna advanced to second on the throw. Schramm reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Malone and moving Serna to third. Sydney Herrmann hit a sacrifice fly to score Serna, bringing the score to 3-1. Elon caught up in the bottom of the sixth, when Peyton Fitzgerald hit a two-run single, and won the game 4-3 with a walk off RBI single.
GAME 2: No. 7 Florida State 8, Dartmouth 0
Florida State jumped to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, which saw action from Isabel Kirby and Charley Maddox. In the third inning, Samantha Gresham doubled to left, Ashley Frantz singled and Justice Malone walked, but the three base runners were left stranded. The Seminoles put a sixth run on the board in their half of the third.
In the top of the fifth, Gresham hit an infield single, then Frantz reached first on a fielder's choice, but Frantz was left on base. The Seminoles sealed their victory with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, bringing the final score to 8-0.
UP NEXT: The Big Green are back in action in Tallahassee tomorrow for the third and final day of the Dugout Club Classic. They will face No. 9 Alabama at 10 a.m.
