Stavroff Is The First Big Green Player To Be Named ECAC Player of the Year
LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—On Thursday at the ECAC Hockey banquet in Lake Placid, N.Y. the league announced the ECAC Player of the Year. Dartmouth's Hayden Stavroff was named the recipient of the award as voted on by first the league's head coaches.
Stavroff becomes the first Dartmouth player to be named ECAC Player of the Year since the league first awarded it in 1962.
The sophomore was recently named a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award while also being named Ivy League Player of the Year, All-Ivy First Team, and All-ECAC First Team.
The Columbus, Ohio native has broken out in 2025-26 as he leads the country in goals with 28 while seeing a 25-point increase from last season. Stavroff is near the top or at the top of multiple categories for Division I. He leads the country in goals per game at 0.88 while being third in the country in points per game at 1.47. He has five game winning goals which puts him seventh in the country while he is one of six players across the country to have two or more hat-tricks.
Over the last two seasons, Stavroff has skated in 63 games while scoring 38 times and has added 31 assists. In his collegiate career he has 17 multi-point games including 13 this season.
No. 9 Dartmouth men's hockey heads to Lake Placid, N.Y. for the third straight season for the ECAC Hockey Semifinals. Faceoff is set for 4 PM on Friday, Mar. 20 against Clarkson. If the Big Green advance they will take on the winner of Cornell and Princeton at 5 PM on Saturday, Mar. 21.
