PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Dartmouth softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Penn on Saturday afternoon at Penn Park, falling 11-0 in the opener before a 9-4 decision in Game 2.

Penn took control early in the first game, scoring two runs in the opening inning before breaking the game open with a nine-run second frame on the way to an 11-0 victory in five innings. The Quakers capitalized on timely hitting in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run home run and several run-scoring hits that pushed the lead into double digits. Dartmouth used three pitchers in the game, with Jensin Hall making the start before Anna Fagan and Isabel Kirby worked in relief.

The Big Green responded with a much stronger offensive showing in the second game, totaling 12 hits and scoring in three of the final innings. Lauren Ben-Ezra led the Dartmouth offense with a 3-for-4 performance and an RBI, while Georgia Bilski added two hits, including a double. Hayvin Barclay also had a strong outing at the plate with two hits, a run scored and an RBI, and Sydney Herrmann reached base multiple times, scoring two runs and driving in another. Faby Serna contributed an RBI as well.

After four scoreless innings to begin the game, Dartmouth broke through with a run in the fifth before adding another in the sixth. The Big Green continued to push late, scoring two runs in the seventh inning to cap the offensive effort.

In the circle, Charley Maddox started and worked four innings before Kirby and Fagan combined to finish the game for Dartmouth.
