FULLERTON, Calif. – Dartmouth women's tennis played its final game in California Tuesday, wrapping its spring trip with a 4-3 win over Cal State Fullerton.
The Big Green are now 11-4 on the season and enter the beginning of Ivy League play in a two-match win streak.
Valentina Cruz and
Brooke Hess were paired at third doubles and were the first match to finish, falling 6-0.
Peyton Capuano and
Michela Moore continued success at first doubles, earning a 6-3 win.
At second doubles,
Josephine Lombardi and
Elise Wong battled back to win in a tiebreaker, sealing the doubles point with a 7-6, 8-6 win.
Lombardi's fifth singles match was the first to conclude. She won the first set 6-3 before taking the point after her opponent retired with Lombardi up 3-0.
At fourth singles,
Sam Grosjean took the win. She earned the first set victory, 7-5 before cruising to a 6-2 second set victory.
Lauren Han played at third singles and her match was the next to conclude. She fell in the first set, 6-4 and battled into a double-digit tiebreaker, falling 7-6, 13-11.
The sixth singles match, played by
Caroline Lemcke, went to three sets. Lemcke dropped the first set, 6-3, before coming back to win the second set, 6-3. She fell in the final match, 6-3.
Michela Moore won her singles match to clinch the victory for the Big Green. She fell in the first set, 6-4 but came back to win the second set 6-2 and third set 6-1.
Capuano's first singles match was the final to finish. She won the first set, 6-4, before dropping the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, 9-7. The match went to a final tiebreaker, as Capuano fell, 10-8.
The Big Green will return to Hanover to open Ivy League play, Sunday, welcoming the Harvard Crimson to Boss Tennis Center. Dartmouth and Harvard faced off in the ECAC Indoor Championship earlier this season, as the Crimson earned the 4-3 victory.
