Brand Leads Dartmouth After Day One of Ivys

SPRINGFIELD, N.J.—Dartmouth men's golf opened the Ivy League Championship on Friday at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. The Big Green sit in sixth place after the first round.

Tyler Brand closed out his opening round at even as he shot a 33 on the front and a 39 on the back. The four hole stretch from 5-8 for Brand was key to his even round. On five he birdied before birdieing the 465 yard par 4 sixth hole. He then notched back-to-back eagles on the par five seventh and the par four eighth hole. He birdied the 17^th hole before paring 18 to close the opening round. He sits in third place at the end of the round.

Fin Szafnauer finished +2 with a 74 in the opening round as he sits in 12^th place. He birdied the first and then birdied the seventh hole as he was -1 on the front nine. On the back he finished +3 with six pars.

Aaron Zhang sits in 27^th after the first 18 holes as he finished the day +7. He opened the day with a birdie on the first and then the seventh. He went on to par eight holes on the day including the 17^th and 18^th to close the round.

Luke Harper closed out scoring for the Big Green as he shot an 80 in his first Ivy League Championship round. He birdied the first, 13^th, and 18^th while nailing seven pars.

Benjamin Wang finished with an 84 in his first championship round. He notched a birdie on the 215 yard par three 12^th while managing seven pars.

The Big Green will most likely need to battle the elements in the second round as rain and wind are expected. Wang is set to start the round with the first tee time at 8 AM on Saturday, April 25.
