NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Intercollegiate Sailing Association's (ICSA) Open Team Race National Championship continued, Friday, as the Big Green advanced to the second round and clinched a spot in the top four.
Dartmouth has a 12-10 record through 22 races and advances to the top-four racing for the first time since 2019.
The Big Green entered day two of the national championship in tenth, holding a 5-6 record with four more round one races to sail. Dartmouth sailed against Brown, St. Mary's, Penn, and Tufts, finishing 3-1 in their remaining four races to advance to Round 2.
Dartmouth was joined alongside Harvard, Stanford, Navy, Roger Williams, Georgetown, Brown, and Tulane as the top-eight teams to advance.
After advancing to round 2, the Big Green posted a 4-3 overall record, earning wins over Navy, Brown and Tulane for the first time in this year's national championship, and beating Georgetown for the second time.
Dartmouth's 12-10 record was tied alongside the Brown Bears and Georgetown Hoyas, but the Big Green won the tiebreaker to clinch fourth, winning the most races when the tied teams met.
The 2026 Open Team Race National Championship will continue on Saturday, April 25, as the Big Green begin sailing in the Round of 4. Harvard (21-1), the reigning national champions sit in first, followed by Roger Williams (16-6), Stanford (15-7) and Dartmouth (12-10).
