STORRS, Conn. – The Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams competed at the UConn Dog Fight on Saturday, highlighted by three top-three individual finishes and strong performances from both 4x100 relay squads.
"It was great to have the whole squad together competing again. For most, this was their outdoor opener. We had success in some areas and also learned where we need to tighten the screws. We look forward to next weekend when we travel to South Florida and Providence!" Go Big Green!" Mike Nelson, the Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field and Cross Country, said.
J'Voughnn Blake led the Big Green on the track, capturing the 800 meters title to earn a first-place finish. In the field events,
Colton McMaster placed third in the hammer throw to record a podium finish for Dartmouth.
On the women's side, Virginia Averyt also delivered a top-three result, placing third in the 5000 meters.
Dartmouth also saw strong performances from its 4x100 relay teams as both the men's and women's squads recorded top-10 performances in program history.
The Big Green will continue its outdoor schedule this weekend with split-squad action, with some student-athletes performing at the South Florida Invite, while others will participate in the Friar Invite.
